IPL Photofacial

Pre-Care Instructions:

• Consultation: Schedule a consultation with a qualified dermatologist or healthcare professional to discuss your skin concerns, medical history, and suitability for IPL treatment. You must notify the technician if you have had any cosmetic tattooing on or near the area to be treated.
• Avoid Sun Exposure: Minimize sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanning products for at least 2-4 weeks before the treatment. Use broad-spectrum sunscreen with a high SPF regularly, even on cloudy days.
• Avoid Certain Medications: Inform your healthcare provider about any medications you are taking, as some medications may increase sensitivity to light. They may advise you to stop certain medications temporarily. Photosensitizing medications including doxycycline and minocycline should be discontinued three days prior to the treatment.
• Avoid Skin Irritants: Avoid using harsh skincare products or treatments that may irritate the skin, such as chemical peels or exfoliants, in the weeks leading up to the procedure. Do not use any retinol products (or products containing tretinoin) or exfoliants on the area to be treated for one week. Avoid Accutane (chemical peels or isotretinoin products) for one (1) month prior. Let your doctor know if you have a history of hyperpigmentation.
• Prior to Appointment: Shave the treatment area a day or two before the IPL session, as the light energy is more effective when targeting hair follicles rather than surface hair. Please do not wear makeup on the day of treatment

Post-Care Instructions:

• Sun Protection: Strictly avoid sun exposure for a few days after treatment. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a high SPF to protect the treated area. Reapply as directed.
• Cool Compress: Apply a cool compress or cold pack to the treated area if there is any discomfort or redness.
• Avoid Heat: Avoid hot baths, saunas, and activities that may cause excessive sweating for 24-48 hours post-treatment.
• Gentle Skincare: Your skin will be fragile for 2-3 days. Use gentle cleansers, do not rub the skin and avoid hot water during this time. Do not use a loofah for one week. Do not use any retinoids, tretinoins, alpha or beta hydroxy products, vitamin C products, scrub, exfoliate, or have chemical peels performed on the areas treated area for one week.
• Avoid Hair Removal Methods: Avoid waxing, plucking, or any other hair removal methods that involve pulling out hair from the root for a few weeks post-treatment.
• Avoid Scratching: Do not scratch or pick at the treated area to minimize the risk of infection and irritation.
• Follow-up Appointments: Schedule any recommended follow-up appointments as advised by your healthcare professional.
